Hamilton College Choir Musical

West Side Story

Members of the Hamilton College Choir perform
West Side Story! Written by Arthur Laurents (book),
Leonard Bernstein (music) and Stephen Sondheim
(lyrics), West Side Story has become a classic of
American musical theater. Based loosely on
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the musical
explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks,
two teenage gangs of different ethnic and cultural
backgrounds in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Bernstein’s score includes the popular “Something’s
Coming,” “Somewhere,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Jet Song.”

Christopher Boveroux, tenor and conductor,
presents a two-part program of voice and conducting.
Accompanied by Sar-Shalom Strong, piano, the
voice portion features works by Finzi, Brahms and
Handel. Works by Josquin, Mendelssohn and Bestor
for chamber ensemble make up the choral portion
of the program.

Winston Cook-Wilson presents a recital of original
compositions. Music for strings, woodwinds, percus-
sion, piano and voice featuring performances by
the Clinton String Quartet and other local musicians.
