G. Roberts Kolb directs the
Hamilton College in the annual
choir musical. Set in the South
Sea Islands, King Paramount
of the Island of Utopia decides
that his people should adopt
all English customs and institu-
tions, but he goes a bit over-
board and decrees that the
kingdom and each of its inhab-
itants should become a "com-
pany limited" based on the
English Companies Act of 1862.

videotaped interviews drawn
from Hamilton’s Jazz Archive
will provide a backstory to
selected arrangements. Guest
conductor Monk Rowe is the
director of the Jazz Archive.

Henry Grimes Join us to
celebrate a
return to music
by master bassist
Henry Grimes.
Grimes was at
the top of his
game in the free
jazz movement when he disap-
peared from performing in
1967. He was presumed dead
but was rediscovered in 2002
and has made an unprecedented
comeback. Grimes, whose
amazing story has been featured
on NPR and in The New York
Times
, will perform with the
legendary Rashied Ali, the
free jazz and avant-garde jazz
drummer best known for play-
ing with John Coltrane in the
last years of his life.
