Members of the Hamilton College Choir perform
West Side Story! Written by Arthur Laurents (book),
Leonard Bernstein (music) and Stephen Sondheim
(lyrics), West Side Story has become a classic of
American musical theater. Based loosely on
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the musical
explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks,
two teenage gangs of different ethnic and cultural
backgrounds in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Bernstein’s score includes the popular “Something’s
Coming,” “Somewhere,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Jet
Song.”
